Characters
Pokémon Trainers
Ash Ketchum
Ash set out on his journey wanting to become a Pokémon master. He had
trouble in the beginning but now he can win battles like a knife slicing through
warm butter. Although Misty says he wins through pity, Ash is actually a skilled
trainer who cares for all of his Pokémon. Ash's first Pokémon was Pikachu. He
was given Pikachu from Professor Oak.
Pikachu
Pikachu was Ash's first Pokémon. At first he didn't like him, but he
started to when Ash protected Pikachu from Spearows. Pikachu refuses to go into
the Pokéball for unknown reasons, so he travels outside with Ash. Because he is
always outside and aware of going on, he can easily battle other Pokémon and
win (no wonder he's Ash's strongest Pokémon!) Pikachu also refuses to evolve
into a Raichu, as he fights in the name of all Pikachu. Pikachu is very loyal
and would do anything for Ash and his friends. He is also Togepi's
"babysitter" and attepts to keep him/her out of trouble, but usually
ends up in trouble himself while Togepi stays safe. You can always tell Togepi
is in trouble when Pikachu goes, "Pi Pi Pi!!" ("Togepi" in
Pikachu-nese)
Gary Oak
Gary is Ash's main rival. He seems a bit older and a better trainer than Ash
(in battling). He thinks Pokémon are used for fighting, so he doesn't have
those special relationships that Ash has with his Pokémon. Gary doesn't like to
admit it, but he thinks Ash is a pretty good Pokémon trainer. He has since
cooled down the bragging since he was beaten by Ash in status in the Indigo
League.
Gym Leaders
Brock
Brock was the leader of the Pewter City Gym, and when Ash won the Boulder
Badge from him, Brock decided to follow Ash and become a Pokémon Breeder.
However, every time Brock sees a pretty girl, he falls head over heels in love,
but then Misty always smacks him out of it. He especially likes Officer Jenny
and Nurse Joy--and what's worse, he can tell each Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny
apart if two or more are in one place. (That's kinda scary, ain't it?)

Misty
Misty is the tomboyish girl who grew up at the Cerulean City Gym with her
sisters. She expecially loves water-type Pokémon. Ash met Misty in the very
first episode when she hooked him on her fishing pole. Then he had to borrow her
bike to save Pikachu from the mad Spearow. He ended up destroying her bike and
she has been following him ever since then. By now she forgot about the bike and
follows Ash for no reason. It's not proven true, but many people think that
Misty has a secret crush on Ash.

Pokémon Watchers
Tracey
Tracey wants to be the best Pokemon watcher. He accompanied Ash and Misty in
the Orange Islands with the dream of meeting Professor Oak, his idol and role
model. After managing to impress Professor Oak with his sketches and
observations, Tracey now works as Professor Oak's assistant.
Professors / Pokémon Researchers
Professor Oak
Professor Oak is around 60 years old and happens to be Gary's grandfather.
He is a famous Pokémon reseacher and admired by many. Oak is also the keeper
and carer of the Pallett Town's trainers' Pokémon. He was formerly friends with
Ash's Krabby, and loved by his Muk (though Oak didn't seem to love it).
Team Rocket
(Don't ask why I put these guys on this page. I just did.)
Jessie
Jessie is the female half of Team Rocket. Her mother disappeared in an
avalanche while searching for Mew, while working for Giovanni's mother, the
former head of Team Rocket. She met James at Pokemon Tech and the two flunked
out and joined a bike gang. She was 17 in the Indigo League, which would make
her about 18 or 19 now. Prepare for trouble if you're not on her good side.
James
About Jessie's age, he grew up rich. His parents arranged for him to be
married to an obsessive perfectionist named Jessebelle. Despite this, he left
his beloved Growlithe, Growly, to take care of his family. Having grown up in
the fancy life, he's much more sensative than Jessie. He too flunked out of
Pokemon Tech. He and Jessie, his lifelong friend, joined Team Rocket together.
Meowth
Meowth grew up in Hollywood with a gang of Meowths led by a Persian. He met
and fell in love with Meowzie, a female Meowth belonging to a very rich lady.
She rejected him because he was a "poor street Meowth" and wasn't
human. So, Meowth learned to walk on two feet and talk human talk to impress
Meowzie, but she still rejected him and called him a freak. When he was learning
to speak, the first word he understood was Rocket, and so he joined up with Team
Rocket (coincidence, I think not) to try to become rich and famous (and
hopefully still have a chance to win Meowzie's heart). His dream never came
true, and later he risked himself to save her, but she still turned him down for
a Persian. He has also fallen in love with a trainer named Cassandra, who helped
him get better when he was sick. He wanted to become her company mascot, but be
was overpowered by, yep, a Persian (Poor Meowth!) Meowth also wants to be the
boss' favorite cat, but (well, this is not a surprise) the boss's favorite cat
is a Persian. It seems that everyone likes Persians, huh? Anyway, will Meowth
ever get his break? At least Jessy and James seem to care about him.
